I’ve been busy as a beaver lately, and this Saturday Sept 22nd I’ll be at the Lie-Nielsen Hand Tool Event in Newport, RI. The event is being held at the International Yacht Restoration School on Thames St. from 10am to 5pm. Details are here: L-N Event in Newport
I don’t know squat about boats, but I am looking forward to seeing how they bang those things together…I’ve heard it’s quite a process. Handsaws and boat building have long enjoyed a wonderful symbiotic relationship and its one of the few trades where hand work has never died. It looks like the weather is going to be gorgeous, too, so it’s shaping up to be quite a nice day.
I’ll be there all day on Saturday with my sharpening gear. I won’t be doing any on the spot sharpening, but its a nice way to drop a saw off and save on shipping charges. I got to meet a whole bunch of great people last weekend at the Connecticut Valley School of Woodworking open house, and always love the chance to talk saws, so do drop in if you’re near Newport.
I’m looking forward to learning about boat building….and maybe I can teach those sea dogs a thing or two about saws.
Hope to see you there.
